Dozens of stamp enthusiasts heading to Banbury for Festival of Stamps

Dozens of stamp collectors are expected to head to Banbury for the town’s popular Festival of Stamps this winter.

Organised by the Banbury Stamp Society, the event will take place from 10am to 4pm at Blessed George Napier School on Sunday, November 15.

The event will see both the Midland Philatelic Federation and Thames Valley Philatelic Federation host their annual competitions and is expected to be a major date in the diary for stamp collectors across the region.

Alongside the competitions, the festival will feature around 20 dealers selling stamps, postal history and postcards, as well as stalls from members of the local stamp club.

There will also be displays from the Banbury Stamp Society, TPO and SeaPost Society and the Stamp Active Network.

Younger visitors to the festival will receive free goodie bags and have the opportunity to take part in fun activities.

Banbury Stamp Society chairman Ian Grace said: “We will be pleased to welcome both novice and experienced collectors with something of interest for everyone.

“This has proved a very popular event and we are grasping the opportunity to again promote philately. It is a worthwhile, interesting and sociable hobby that is good for mental health and there is always something to learn.”

The venue has free parking, and refreshments will be available to visitors throughout the day.

The Banbury Stamp Society has been hosting the town’s Festival of Stamps every two years for more than a decade.
