Banbury Town Council is inviting residents to join it at 10am outside the town hall on Sunday.

From there a military parade will make its way through the town to St Mary’s Church for a special remembrance service, honouring those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II and subsequent conflicts is set to take place at 10:45am.

Following the conclusion of the service, the town council alongside current and former servicemen will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at People's Park at midday.

This year the town council has paid special tribute to the various organisations and groups that take part in the parade each year.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We would like to say a special 'thank you' to all of the youth groups and organisations who are due to take part in the town's annual parade, as they have done for many years prior.

“From members of Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force, 1460 (Banbury) Squadron Air Cadets and Sea Cadets Banbury to local scout groups and St John's Ambulance volunteers, hundreds of young faces take part in our parade in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during past conflicts, including World War I and World War II.”

Banbury Town Council will have a station set up outside the town hall to allow the public to donate to the Royal British Legion and pick up a poppy and other RBL gifts.
