Award-winning farmers' market near Banbury celebrates 25 years of trade
An award-winning farmers' market near Banbury will celebrate it’s 25 year anniversary this month.
Deddington Farmers’ Market will mark its 25-year milestone with a special market on Saturday, September 26.
The market is considered one of the best in the county and has been awarded Oxfordshire Farmers’ Market of the Year for the past five years at the London and the South East Prestige Awards.
It was also named Farmers’ Market of the Year at the LuxLife Magazine Awards in 2025.

To celebrate reaching the quarter-century milestone, there will be competitions to win goodie bags, while Deddington Brass Band will be in attendance, playing celebratory music.
The organisers of the market have also invited all former market chairmen to attend for a photo opportunity at 11am.
Chair of Deddington Farmers’ Market, Tei Willox, said: “The market is a much-cherished part of Deddington life.
“Everyone involved over the 25-year history has added something that has helped make the market the success it is today.
“If it were a marriage it would be a silver one, symbolising the enduring strength and beauty of a long-lasting union, which fits.”
Although a market took place in Deddington in the 12th century, by the 20th century it had sadly disappeared.
The current market was started 25 years ago by the late Charles Newey in response to the Foot and Mouth disease outbreak, which swept the country and devastated the livelihoods of many farmers.
It started small with a handful of stalls and has grown into the largest monthly market in the county, often hosting more than 40 stalls and attracting more than 2,000 people.
