DeerJam 2016 proves another success

A popular Banbury pub held a music festival this past Saturday raising money for two local charities.

The two day DeerJam festival at the Olde Rein Deere Inn hosted nine local acts to take the stage in the newly refurbished courtyard area.

Friday saw Gareth Gwynn and Acoustic Journey kick off the event with acoustic sets.

Saturday showcased seven more local bands starting with electro-acoustic sets by Stevie Cooper and Lindsay May, Bushfield Smith and Stuart Layzell.

The amps were then cranked up to 11 as Til Dawn, Neva Mynd and Mississippi Disc played a selection of modern, classic and blues rock tracks from the likes of Muse , Foo Fighters, ACDC, Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top.

Closing the night were Ska out fit SKAletrics.

So far the event has raised £1067 for Katharine House and Horton Radio but the full total will not be known until next week.

Landlord Jem Morey said: “The event went really well. Without the help from Leigh Chambers, Tanicha Boneham, Pete Emms, and Bob Dainty and the crew from Radio Horton it wouldn’t of been possible. The stage, sound and lights looked incredible. All the bands we’re fantastic and we really appreciate them for providing the entertainment for the day and helping us raise money for two great local causes.”

He added: “We’ve already set the date for next year 2nd and 3rd of June 2017.”
