Becks calls time on the ‘Old Gits’ at Banburyshire pub
A pub manager who has kept her regulars in check for nearly nine years received retirement gifts from her ‘old gits’ last week.
Becks Hall, who has stepped down as general manager of The Sun Inn, Hook Norton, received a farewell card and gifts from her Wednesday night regulars - affectionately dubbed ‘The Old Gits’ by staff.
‘Drystone’ Dave Smith made the presentation at an informal ceremony at the pub last week. The gifts included a crystal glass flower vase and a voucher for a bouquet of flowers in addition to a plaque extolling her virtues as a wonderful host and a certificate enrolling her as an ‘Honorary Old Git!’
Becks is looking forward to enjoying an active (early) retirement ‘doing the best job in the world’, looking after her two nine-month-old twin grandchildren. She also plans to becomes a volunteer for Hooky Neighbours and raise money for the Fire Service.

Mr Smith thanked her for the wonderful service she has provided to her clients and the support she has given over the years to clubs and societies using the pub as base.
He also expressed the great affection felt for her by the O-Gs and looked forward to seeing her any Wednesday night she cares to join them for a drink.
Becks said: “I want to thank everybody for supporting me and community events in the pub and I am honoured to be an ‘Old Git!”
By way of thanks to the village, Becks has organised tea and cakes in The Sun on Friday, September 4 from 2:30pm followed by a party with live music in the evening from 8pm. All are welcome.
