From Banbury to the big screen: Local dog lands TV role alongside Hollywood star Tom Hardy
A beloved Banbury pet dog is set for TV stardom after landing a role alongside Hollywood actor Tom Hardy.
Obie, a blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier, will star alongside Hollywood actor Tom Hardy in the upcoming season of MobLand.
The four-year-old dog is no stranger to the big screen, having previously appeared in Back to Black, the Amy Winehouse biopic, and British comedy horror The Radleys. However, his latest role is his biggest casting yet.
Obie’s owner, Jasmine Gilhooly, said she was incredibly proud of her pet and hoped his appearance would help show what fantastic dogs Staffordshire Bull Terriers can be.

Jasmine said: “I am so proud of Obie, he is such a kind-natured dog and so gentle with my little girl.
“It's also really special for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier to be shown, and prove what a fantastic dog they really are! Obie has always been so intelligent and a quick learner, so I knew he would smash his scene.”
Obie has been trained by Gill Raddings Stuntdogs and Animals, near Deddington, since he was a puppy.
Ségolène Veyre, who works with Gill, said: “What an absolute honour it was to share a scene with Tom Hardy, who is the most genuine dog lover you could possibly meet and also a really lovely human.
“Obie was a real natural on set from day one. He loves to learn and always delivers his best performance. Him and Tom Hardy hit it off straight away!”
Season two of MobLand is currently being aired on Paramount+ UK.
