Mystery pranksters target Banbury’s Fine Lady Statue in hilarious Halloween caper

Banbury’s famous Fine Lady Statue was given a gruesome Halloween makeover after mystery pranksters hung a severed-head prop from it.

Residents were left amused after spotting the Halloween prank on Saturday, October 31.

Instead of scattering petals as she normally does, the pranksters had attached a severed-head prop to the Fine Lady’s raised arm.

The picture was shared on social media on Saturday before the prop was removed.

One person commented: “Nice to see the lady getting into the Halloween spirit.”

Another added: “Either someone is playing a Halloween prank or the Fine Lady has been up to no good, because she's got more than just rings on her fingers this morning.”

Last year, the town celebrated the 20th anniversary of the statue’s erection beside Banbury Cross.

The statue was officially unveiled by HRH Anne, Princess Royal, on April 27, 2005.

It was created to celebrate the town’s heritage and its connection to the nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross.
