Brackley Town sign midfield prospect following Birmingham City release

Brackley Town have announced the signing of midfielder O’Shea Ellis following his departure from Championship side Birmingham City.

The Saints have been determined to land a busy central midfielder, and it’s hoped Ellis will provide the energy manager Andy Whing desires.

Ellis never made a senior appearance for Birmingham but he featured 15 times in competitive matches for the West Midlands club’s under-21 and under-18 sides.

Last season, the 19-year-old had a successful loan at National League North outfit Oxford City, where he scored three goals in 20 league appearances.

The versatile midfielder is eager to continue his progression at this level with Whing keen to utilise his skills in the centre of the park.

When asked what fans can expect from him, Ellis said: “I'd describe myself as a box-to-box midfielder.

“I like to get forward, create chances and score goals, but I also enjoy the other side of the game.

“I want to do my part defensively, win my duels and help the team in every phase. More than anything, I just love winning.

“I've got friends who've been here before, and they had nothing but positive things to say about the club.

“They spoke highly of the people, the environment and the ambition here, so it was a move that really appealed to me. I can't wait to get started.”

As Ellis alludes to, he follows in the footsteps of former Birmingham colleagues Ben Wodskou and Byron Pendleton, who both enjoyed spells with Brackley last season.

Ellis’ arrival brings the Saints’ tally of first-team players to 12, ten of which are new signings.
