‘We will take robust action’: Electric motorcycle rider knocked off bike after Banbury chase
An electric motorcycle rider has been arrested in Banbury on suspicion of carrying a knife, dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance, and failing to stop for police.
Police pursued the rider of a Surron electric motorcycle through Banbury town centre after he allegedly failed to stop.
A police spokesperson said: “The ride came to an abrupt ‘game over’ when he was pursued by our motorcyclists and then ‘helped’ off his motorcycle by one of our unmarked cars.”
The rider was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a blade, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence or insurance.

The police spokesperson added: “There is a misconception that police will not pursue electric motorbikes or riders wearing balaclavas without helmets. This is not the case.
“If riders are involved in criminality or posing a risk to the public with their riding, we will take robust action and take them off their bikes where it is safe to do so.”
