A man has been sent to prison after being convicted of stabbing a woman and threatening another woman with a knife in Bicester.

Michael Brits, of Fair Close, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (October 16).

The 27-year-old was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and threatening a person with a knife in a private place, following a six-day trial at Oxford Crown Court on August 17 this year.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possessing a knife or bladed article in public. He was acquitted of an attempted murder charge.

Michael Brits, of Fair Close, has been jailed for four years and six months after stabbing one woman and threatening another with a knife.

The convictions relate to an incident on March 27, when Brits entered a room at an address in Fair Close at around 4pm, where a woman in her sixties was sitting.

He told her she was “evil” and that he needed to “get rid” of her before repeatedly stabbing her with a knife.

The woman sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to her abdomen and thigh, as well as defensive injuries to her hands as she tried to protect herself.

She required hospital treatment, but her injuries were not life-threatening. She managed to flee to a neighbouring property, where she was able to ask for help.

Still carrying the knife, Brits then approached a second woman and appeared to lunge towards her while holding the weapon and shouting at her.

He later returned to the address and dropped the knife before police officers arrived and arrested him. He was charged the following day (March 28).

Investigating officer Detective Constable Chloe Jeffs said: “This was an extremely serious and violent offence in which a woman sustained multiple stab wounds and significant injuries.

“Knife violence has devastating consequences, not only for those directly involved but also for families, neighbours and the wider community.

“I hope this outcome provides reassurance that we will continue to pursue those who commit serious violent offences and work tirelessly to protect the public.”
