'It’s a moment to celebrate who we are as a community': Banbury Pride returns with message of unity

Banbury Pride will return on Saturday, May 30, for a day of celebration, community, and inclusivity.

Following on from the success of previous years, Banbury Pride has again been organised to take place on Butcher’s Row.

This year’s event will feature a full programme of live entertainment, stalls and a variety of fun activities.

The free event has been organised by a team of volunteers to celebrate diversity and show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

A spokesperson for the Banbury Pride committee said: “Banbury Pride is about bringing people together. It’s a moment to celebrate who we are as a community - open, welcoming, and supportive - while also recognising that for some, feeling accepted isn’t always a given.

“Coming together as a community also means advocating for those who need our support. Unfortunately, trans rights are being rolled back and under threat here in the UK and around the world. It is a scary time to be trans, and we will do all we can to push back against the anti-trans trend from the far right.

“As a family-friendly event, it’s about creating a space where everyone - of all ages and backgrounds - can feel they belong. We are so excited to be back, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone and celebrate Pride again!”

Organisers of Banbury Pride are inviting local businesses and organisations to support the event through sponsorship, which will help fund performers, staging, and activities.
