Mercedes’ George Russell makes exciting Silverstone announcement involving the 2027 British Grand Prix

George Russell has announced he will have his very own set of grandstands at the 2027 British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit.

Russell, who represents the Brackley and Brixworth-based Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, is following in the footsteps of fellow British driver Lando Norris.

Reigning world champion and McLaren stalwart Norris has had the ‘Landostand’ at Stowe corner for the past two seasons, with his area drastically increasing in size this year.

Norris had over 16,000 seats in his sold-out Landostand in 2026, with many spectators kitted out in his fluorescent yellow merchandise to create an unmissable sea of passionate fans.

Russell, who came second in the most recent British Grand Prix, mentioned during that event’s media day that he wanted his own dedicated supporter base in the future.

“It’s something we’ve spoken about with the team in the past and it’s something we’re working towards,” Russell said in July.

“Where I’d like to put it? Probably, I mean Lando’s got quite a good spot on the outside of Stowe, so I’ll try and steal it off him,” he then joked.

To that, Norris responded: “He can do what he wants, but he is certainly not taking any of my seats!”

It would appear Russell’s words didn’t only come from a place of hope, as the 28-year-old has now secured his dedicated zone of Silverstone Circuit for 2027… just not at Stowe.

Allocated the exit of turn one, around turn two and nearby the overtaking spot into three and turn four, Russell will have a host of seated areas packed out with his devoted fans.

“It’s a really cool place on the circuit, one of the best in my opinion,” Russell said at the time of the announcement. “I can’t wait to see you all here,” the #63 driver added.

Whether Russell’s grandstands will be back again for 2028 and beyond awaits to be seen, but the Mercedes man will be delighted to have secured seats full stop.

Ticket details are yet to be announced but supporters are urged to keep their eyes peeled and to keep checking Mercedes’ and Silverstone’s social media channels.
