Boss Whing happy with workout as Brackley claim draw at Welsh Premier League side

Boss Andy Whing was delighted with the workout for his Brackley Town team as they played out a 0-0 pre-season friendly draw at Cardiff Met on Saturday.

The Saints travelled to south Wales to take on the Welsh Premier League side, and turned in a strong performance.

Brackley started strongly and had several chances, but then had to soak up some pressure as well, with both sides happy to play out the stalemate in the end

"I thought it was a really good game of football," Whing told @BrackleyTownFC.

"I thought Cardiff were excellent and it was the best game we have played in terms of the standard, quality and tempo of the game.

"A lot of the lads had to play their first full 90 minutes on a 3G pitch in the heat, and it was excellent for us.

"We started off really well and could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up early on, we have had some great chances, and then the game opened up a little.

"We stopped doing the things we were doing well, but we defended well and all in all it was a really good game for us, although there were some tired bodies.

"You want to see goals, but for me, everything about that performance, the togetherness, the recovery runs, the way we defended and created chances, I was pleased. It was a really tough test for us."

Brackley are due back in friendly action on Tuesday night when they travel to Stratford Town (ko 7.45pm).
