‘Important’ road resurfacing project in Banbury town centre completed

A major overnight road resurfacing project in Banbury town centre has been completed.

Oxfordshire County Council completed maintenance and resurfacing works on the A361 on Thursday, September 10.

The 18-day project was split into three phases, with the road resurfaced from the Hennef Way roundabout to the Banbury Cross roundabout.

It was part of a wider scheme which has seen 115,000 square metres of roads resurfaced across 38 sites in the county.

Cllr Liz Leffman, the council’s cabinet member for highways construction and repairs, said: “This was a very important scheme for Banbury as this road runs right through the heart of the town. It was a massive piece of work, and it needed to be done as it has been many years since it was last resurfaced properly.

“The work will extend the life of the road by preventing water getting in, reducing the need for frequent repairs, enhancing skid resistance for safer travel, and smoothing out road surfaces for a more comfortable ride.”
