How Mercedes can clinch the Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship in Brazil this weekend

Brackley’s Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team are on the brink of securing the F1 Constructors’ World Championship for the first time since 2021.

Kimi Antonelli was recently crowned the Drivers’ World Champion following an impressive third-place finish at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Antonelli celebrated his maiden F1 title in style in the stadium section of Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, as the youngest champion in the sport’s history.

But the job is not done for Mercedes, with the Brackley outfit still out to clinch the constructors’ title and Antonelli’s teammate George Russell eager to finish second amongst the drivers.

With Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, as well as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen for company, just 16 points separate the four drivers from second to fifth.

There’s plenty of motivation to succeed, then, as Mercedes take to Interlagos Circuit for the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.

The Silver Arrows have a good chance of winning the constructors’ title in Brazil, with some very doable permutations.

Mercedes currently hold a 126-point lead over Ferrari, with 172 points left on the table in the remaining four grands prix of the season.

To be crowned in Brazil on Sunday, the Silver Arrows simply must outscore Ferrari by three points or more.

One of either Antonelli or Russell winning the race and their teammate finishing fourth or better will be enough, regardless of how Hamilton and Leclerc perform.

Winning the constructors’ championship would be a deserved achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication from those back at the factories in Brackley and Brixworth.

Mercedes have taken to the complex new-for-2026 regulations like a duck to water after designing a mega power unit with superior energy management.

Sealing the title this weekend would be the perfect reward for the whole team, and then the focus can then shift to further success in 2027.

The Brazilian Grand Prix gets underway at 5pm GMT on Sunday, November 8.
