Despite seeing his side slip to another narrow defeat, Brackley Town manager Kevin Wilkin took encouragment from the performance.

Table-toppers Solihull Moors recovered from last Saturday’s 6-0 reverse to beat Saints 1-0 in Saturday’s Vanarama National League North clash.

Substitute Akwasi Asanti grabbed the late winner after keeper Sam Hornby had denied the visitors for long periods at St James Park.

Wilkin reflected after the game on successive games against the top two. He said: “They were a strong side with good depth about them. Sam [Hornby] did fantastically well for us and made good saves.

“There is encouragement to take from these games against the top two. Performances have improved and we enjoyed periods of play again today.

“But our quality needs to be better in key areas where we are missing a bit of composure. We have crucial matches coming up against teams around us.

“Next Saturday we go to Tamworth for another tough game but after our recent performances we will be on the front foot and we will have a chance against them.”
