‘We are honoured’: Banbury mosque shortlisted for best women’s service at national awards
Banbury Madni Masjid Mosque has been shortlisted for a national award recognising mosques that support the spiritual, emotional and intellectual needs of women and girls.
A Banbury mosque has been shortlisted among the final three in the Best Women’s Services category at the ninth annual British Beacon Mosque Awards.
Banbury Madni Masjid was recognised for its women-led education and faith courses, health and wellbeing services, sporting and social activities, and community support for women.
The winners are chosen by an independent judging panel, with public votes also contributing to the final result.

A spokesperson for Banbury Madni Masjid said: “We are honoured by this nomination. As we are taught in Islam, and as our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.’
“This achievement is a true testament to our entire community bringing together people from all diverse backgrounds, both non-Muslims and Muslims alike, across Banburyshire and Oxfordshire. When we work hand in hand, this is what a strong, united community truly looks like.
“Congratulations to everyone in Banbury and beyond, and especially to everyone who has played a part in making this happen. This is a proud victory for us all.”
The British Beacon Mosque Awards celebrate the work of mosques across the UK, recognising their services and contributions to their communities.
A spokesperson for the awards said: “Beacon Mosque helps mosques evidence strong practice, celebrate outstanding service and share models of leadership that strengthen communities across the UK.”
