FIA Karting European Championship coming to Silverstone in 2027 - with British prodigies to take on European’s elite
Silverstone is set to host another major karting showdown, with motorsport’s global governing body, the FIA, confirming the return of its prestigious FIA championship in 2027.
Young racing hopefuls from across Europe - including some of the best Britain has to offer - will take to the historic Silverstone Circuit’s new world-class karting facility next May.

Kart Silverstone, opened by Mercedes Formula 1 driver George Russell earlier in 2026, is situated just a stone’s throw from the main Grand Prix circuit.
The karting track even incorporates the Bridge and Priory corners from Silverstone’s old 1991-2009 circuit used in F1 and MotoGP, allowing participants to follow in the wheeltracks of legends.

Next year, Kart Silverstone will host the second round of the 2027 Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship, one of the most competitive in the world for young drivers.
The head of karting at Motorsport UK, Dan Parker, said: “Welcoming the FIA Karting European Championship to Silverstone is a fantastic opportunity for British karting.
“We have a long and proud tradition of success in the sport, and this gives the next generation of British drivers the chance to build on that heritage and showcase their talent on home soil.”
Costing between £8-10 million to create, Kart Silverstone’s five circuit configurations are the brainchild of F1 designer Jarno Zaffelli.
The Italian was previously heavily involved in the redesign of Zandvoort in the Netherlands in 2021 and the curation of the new-for-2026 Madring in Spain.
FIA Karting’s commission president, Akbar Ebrahim, said of the venue: “Silverstone is one of the most iconic circuits in motorsport and we’re incredibly excited to bring the FIA Karting European Championship to the new facilities they’ve built there.
“Combining the great history of the track with the motorsport’s most exciting young prospects will make for an incredibly special weekend of racing next year.”
There’s quite the list of alumni in the FIA championships, as Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris won in 2013 and fellow F1 drivers Russell, Kimi Antonelli and Alex Albon all took part once upon a time.
British prodigies Noah Baglin, 14, and Will Green, 13, won the 2026 Karting European Championship and the pair - already picked up by the Ferrari and Williams driver programmes respectively - are being hotly tipped for further success.
Stuart Pringle OBE, CEO Silverstone, added: “The British Racing Drivers’ Club, owner of Silverstone, has always had a clear commitment to nurturing young British talent and helping drivers progress through the sport.
“Bringing one of the world’s leading karting championships to Silverstone gives emerging racers from Britain and beyond the chance to compete at the home of British motorsport as part of a journey that can potentially lead all the way to Formula 1.
“It is exactly the kind of opportunity Kart Silverstone was built to create.”
The British round of the 2027 FIA Karting European Championship will be held in Silverstone over 13-16 May 2027.
