Discover more about the Quakers in Banbury 'quest' this weekend

If you have ever wanted to find out more about the Quakers there is an opportunity at a Quaker Quest in Banbury this weekend.

The event is planned at the Friends Meeting House, Horsefair on Saturday (October 31) and visitors are invited to go along for the morning, afternoon or all day.

They will be able to hear speakers talking about a ‘simple, radical and contemporary path for our time’ and listen to or join in a discussion. There will be a shared lunch.

A spokesman for the Banbury group said: “Bring your questions and ideas. There will be informal discussions – introducing Quakers and our way of coming together. Everyone is welcome no matter their age. Children can join in the discussions or play. No booking is needed and it is free.

“Quakerism is almost 400 years old. It's the common name for the Religious Society of Friends. It grew out of Christianity and today we also find meaning and value in other faiths and traditions.

"We recognise that there's something transcendent and precious in every person. Different Quakers use different words to describe this, but we all believe we can be in contact with it and encounter something beyond our individual selves.”

The location of the Quaker Meeting House is OX16 0AH, between Church House and the pathway to People’s Park, through the gate in the old wall.

The day begins at 10am with speakers and discussion beginning at 10.30am. At 12.30pm there will be lunch with speakers and discussions again from 1.30pm – 4pm.
