New £130m rail line approved

Rail passengers will enjoy faster links from Bicester to Oxford and London Marylebone from 2015 after a £130million rail line was given the green light this afternoon.

Bicester Town station will be rebuilt as part of Chiltern Railways’ Evergreen 3 project linking Oxford and London. The line will be the first rail link from the capital to a major city in 100 years.

The decision follows a lengthy public inquiry.

Chiltern Railways director Graham Cross said thousands of commuters and businesses in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire would benefit from the new line.

A new parkway station will also be created at Water Eaton.
