Man seriously injured after collision with lorry on A361

A 74-year-old man was seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the A361 at the Aston le Walls crossroads on Tuesday.

The man was riding a bike when the collision with a white DAF mixer lorry took place at about 10.30am.

The cyclist was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesperson for the WNAA, said: “The air ambulance crew worked with East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) to assess and treat the patient.

“He was given pain relief and a pelvic splint, then immobilised for flight to prevent further injury.

“As he was losing blood, WNAA activated the major haemorrhage protocol, calling the hospital ahead of time to alert them that he may need blood urgently when he arrived.”

The man was taken to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment, arriving at 11.08am.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information regarding it.
