A thriving Banbury theatre company is expanding to cope with the number of talented young people wanting to get involved.

Cherwell Theatre Company is running extra class every week for 12 to 16-year-olds at The Mill. The classes are on Wednesdays during term time between 6pm and 8pm.

The popular weekly classes for 16-year-olds and above at Banbury College’s Flipside Theatre will continue every Monday from 6pm to 8pm.

Artistic director Tristan Pate said: “We have seen demand rise rapidly in recent months and there are now more opportunities than ever for young people to get involved.”

The group has an ‘open door’ policy, with no auditions and the offer of a free taster session for newcomers.

A challenging 24-hour ‘Play-athon’ is also planned for Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 19, at Banbury Town Hall. Young people will join professional actors, writers and directors at 5pm on Saturday to take on the challenge of devising, scripting, rehearsing and performing a 10 minute play by 5pm the next day.
