Kevin Nicks of Rollright took seven months to build the two ton vehicle, he said: “I had the car sat on the drive and it was going to scrap, I wanted to do something with it so I built this. It’s completely road legal.”

He added: “I just do it to make people smile.”

The donor vehicle was a 2.8L V6 Volkswagon Passat, which runs through the entire shed. Despite its weight and less then desirable aerodynamics last September the shed was officially clocked by the UK Timing Association at 88.086mph.

Currently Mr. Nicks displays his shed at car shows where it always creates a stir, he said: “Witchford was the first public event I took it to and I was amazed, it completely stole the show and I never expected that.”

Voting for the ‘Shed of the Year’ will be open until midday on June 8 and you can vote for Mr Nicks entry under the unique category at www.readersheds.co.uk.

There are eight categories of sheds to vote for and the overall winner will be announced later in the summer .

Mr Nicks said: “ I don’t know where they are holding the finals yet but I can guarantee I will be the only one who drives their shed to it.”
