The judges have been out and about to take a look at King’s Sutton’s finest gardens – and have made their decision.

Though the heatwaves made it a challenging year to keep displays looking tip-top, hard work has paid off for a number of villagers in the King’s Sutton in Bloom contest.

The parish council and garden club experts awarded a cool first prize of £60 to David and Debbie Walton, describing their garden as, ‘An exceptional planting with good use of green plants and extra pots’.

Second prize and £40 went to Evelyn Bailey, praised for a ‘Neat, good lawn. Very nice amaranthus, with exceptional geraniums in pots and passion flower’.

Perfect planting and ‘amazing’ use of small space saw Sue Hiam pick up third prize and £30.

Two other gardens were highly recommended. Ruth and Barry Gamage’s was: ‘So simple, but effective. Fabulous use of colour’, while Avril and Les Keen featured, ‘Mainly pots, but lots of

colour. Well done on the cosmos’.
