Banbury school appoints new headmistress

The Board of Governors of Tudor Hall School has announced the appointment of Ms Julie Lodrick as the next head of Tudor Hall School. She will succeed Wendy Griffiths, who is retiring after 18 years of service to the school. Ms Lodrick will take up her new post in January 2022.

Ms Lodrick is currently the head at Kent College, Pembury where she has been in post for five years. Previously, she was head at The Mount, York for six years.

Her many achievements at Kent College include a significant growth in pupil numbers, notable improvements in academic performance, and the introduction of a renowned and successful Sport and Wellbeing Programme. Ms Lodrick is a member of the Boarding Committee for the Girls' Schools Association and is on the Academic Policy Sub-Committee at HMC.

Ms Lodrick's inspiring vision for the role that Tudor Hall can play in developing the next generation of female leaders, thinkers, influencers and change-makers was particularly compelling.

Ms Lodrick said: "I am delighted, and honoured, to have been given the opportunity to lead Tudor Hall as its next head. Tudor is exceptional in every regard and is the only school that would tempt me away from my current post.

"It has a profoundly special atmosphere, with a strong sense of family and tradition at its heart. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the whole Tudor community, and working together to write the next exciting chapter in its distinguished history."

The chair of governors, Debbie Chism, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Ms Lodrick has accepted the role as the next head of Tudor Hall School. There has never been a more important time for young women to learn and develop the skills they will need to thrive in the modern world.

"The board was impressed with Ms Lodrick's clear vision for the future of the school and she will undoubtedly be a role model for the girls, embracing Tudor Hall's values and continuing Wendy Griffiths' outstanding legacy. Ms Lodrick will bring her enormous experience, dynamism, enthusiasm and commitment to Tudor Hall. The board and I are very much looking forward to working with Ms Lodrick.

Miss Griffiths said: “I am thrilled to be handing over the leadership of Tudor Hall to Julie. She will bring a wealth of experience, a passion for girls' education and a real love for the school.”

Tudor Hall Tudor Hall is a small full boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18.
