Chipping Norton restaurant temporarily closes due impact of coronavirus

The Bitter & Twisted Bar and Kitchen posted a message on its website and social media outlets today, Monday October 12 that is has decided to temporarily close due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on daily operations.

A spokesperson for the business said: "We’ve closed because the number of staff who are self-isolating is high enough that we can’t staff the restaurant. We’ve not been told to close, we’re just not able to meet operational needs. We’ll be open again as soon as our staff are out of their 14 day self isolation."

The business posted the following message on its website about the closure.

"We have been contacted and informed that a number of our staff members have been in contact with someone who later tested positive for Covid-19. We have therefore taken the immediate decision to close for 14 days to protect all staff and customers, in adherence with the government guidelines.

"We are confident in our diligent social distancing measures and cleaning procedures, but we want to be as safe as possible.

"Normal service will resume on Monday 26th October. If you have any questions, please drop us an email or give us a call. We look forward to seeing you!"

The website also outlined how they would operate when they reopened.

On reopening they will be table service only. Customers will not be able to stand at the bar.

Customers must book an inside table in advance, either by calling on 01608 644466 or using the ‘book’ tab on the website. Customers need to book a table both for food or drinking.

Tables on the terrace will be first-come-first-served. Customers will need to provide contact details on arrival.

They have 'significantly increased our already stringent cleaning regime.'
