Warriner Choral Society is preparing for the first concert of the year taking place on Saturday, April 8.
The choir will perform two pieces perfectly timed for Easter with the concert taking place at St Peter and Paul’s Church in Deddington.
Under the baton of well-known musical director Martin Quinn they are performing Handel’s rarely performed Passion of Christ along with Haydn’s Stabat Mater.
The Passion of Christ comes from Handel’s much larger work the Brockes Passion. With operatic influences to the solo arias it has been described by the society as a stunning piece of work.
The choir will be supported once again by the Akeman Chamber Orchestra along with four professional soloists.
These include Hakan Vramsmo, Georgina Stalbow, Guy Withers and Lorna Perry.
Tickets for the concert are £12 and accompanied children under 16 are free.
