Rehearsals have come to an end for Chipping Norton Theatre’s production of The Kreutzer Sonata, which has its eagerly anticipated opening night tomorrow (Friday).
Based on Leo Tolstoy’s novella and adapted for the stage by Irish playwright Nancy Harris, the play sees highly respected RSC actor Greg Hicks take centre stage.
The captivating one-man production is filled to the rafters with themes of love, lust, jealousy and murder.
It sees text and music come together to tell the story of a man driven mad by jealousy as he recounts the moment he watched his wife perform Beethoven’s Sonata with another man.
Hicks’ performance will be complimented by the efforts of Hannah Watson on piano and Justin Wilman on the violin, who bring the Beethoven pieces to life.
The Kreutzer Sonata will run at Chippy Theatre from Friday, 18 September to Saturday, 26 September. To book tickets, go to: www.chippingnortontheatre.co.uk or call 01608 642350.
