Sir Elton John has been unveiled as the first headline act for Blenheim Palace’s summer concert series, which will return to the country manor for the second time next year.

The popular singer, songwriter and pianist is due to appear at Nocturne 2016 with his band on the final night of the four day event.

It will mark Elton’s Blenheim Palace debut and is set to be his first performance in the Oxfordshire area in 10 years.

Following the runaway success of this year’s series when over 20,000 music fans descend on the Palace to hear big names such as Van Morrison, the organisers made the decision to bring it back for a second consecutive year.

It will run from Thursday, June 23 to Sunday, June 26 2016 and provide music fans with a truly unique live music experience in the grounds of a 300-year-old world heritage site.

He will perform a hit-laden set with his band, drawing on classic songs from his extensive back catalogue as well as music from his recently announced 33rd studio album Wonderful Crazy Night.

Speaking about his return to the Oxfordshire area, Elton said: “I remember my first show in Oxford - towards the end of our 1972 tour of the UK with the great Linda Lewis on support - and am so glad to be playing my first show there in 10 years.”

Elton John and his band will perform at Nocturne on Sunday, June 26 . More acts will be announced shortly.Tickets starts at £50, see www.nocturnelive.com for details.
