The event was busy from start to finish on Saturday, July 2, with visitors pouring in to join the free festivities.

A huge Triceratops stomped through the malls and two baby dinosaurs made a special appearance. Film-inspired characters from Batman, Ghostbusters, Harry Potter, Minions and Jurassic Park also roamed around showing off their likeness to the real film characters.

There were also replicas of some of the most iconic movie vehicles on show, while visitors could also be transported to a fantastical land on Harry Potter’s broom and other scenes on the centre’s specially installed green screen in the main mall. All photographs and video footage were free to download and enjoy at home.

Film themes played inside Lock29 throughout the weekend and face painters turned visitors into their favourite movie character.

There was also a Hollywood set with a range of props including a paparazzi wall, director’s chair, clapper board, film camera and spotlight.

Castle Quay Centre Director Oliver Wren said: “The event exceeded all our expectations. It was hugely popular from start to finish with guests absolutely loving the varied event activity we had arranged. I think our visitors were truly wowed – especially with the roaming dinosaurs and Batman, which the crowds went wild for.

Cllr Ian Corkin, deputy leader of Cherwell District Council and portfolio holder for regeneration and economy, said: “The event was spectacular and the feedback I have received so far from the public has been incredible. It was the perfect event to officially launch this game-changing destination, which has truly transformed the town’s offer, bringing a whole new shopping and leisure dimension to the people of Banbury.”
