Carice Singers to perform in Banbury

Just under 50 musicians, all of whom under the age of 26, will be coming from all over the country to perform Handel's Messiah at St Marys Church in Banbury on Tuesday March 29 at 7pm.

The Carice Singers, an acclaimed chamber choir that provides performance opportunities to emerging professional singers, will be joined by four gifted young soloists as well as a superb baroque ensemble of young professionals, all under the assured direction of George Parris.

With such an impressive range of talent, these performances are bound to sparkle with youthful energy and vibrant musicality.

George Parris grew up near Warwick and formed The Carice Singers while reading music at Cambridge.

Now in its fifth year, the choir aims to give experience of professional music making to its twenty-or-so members, all of whom are in the first steps of their careers as choral singers.

Parris said: “We are really going to try and do something different with this mighty oratorio, and work to bring out the dramatic essence that Handel so cleverly injects into this universal narrative, with an emphasis of course on the Easter story.’
