Barney Newman is a songwriter and musician from Oxfordshire and has been touring around the Midlands for 20 years.

A well-known figure on the Banbury music scene, Barney has played a host of different genres ranging from folk to rock but most recently has settled into his love of the blues, specialising in his own brand of blues-roots-folk.

Virtuoso fiddler Tom Leary is no stranger to Banbury Folk Club, having played several times with PJ Wright and Kevin Dempsey and with Little Johnny England.

Tom’s career has led to him playing with Lindisfarne, the late John B Spencer, Phil Bates of ELO, Clem Clempson, Steve Gibbons, Tanna, Zeus, Albion Morris and many more. Tom has been in Feast of Fiddles since the group was formed.

Club organiser Mary Droscher said: “The combination of Barney’s vocals, banjo, harmonica and guitar with Tom’s fiddle and slide guitar make this duo a unique combination of pleasing rootsy sounds.”

Mary added: “We have not had the opportunity to see Tom play at the club since we moved to the Banbury Cross as he has been busy playing with Feast of Fiddles. We are looking forward to having him play.

“Barney also played at the club when it was at the Mill. We are delighted to have the chance of seeing them together.”
