Whitfield to host season’s area finale

Whitfield Racecourse hosts the joint SMAC and Bicester with Whaddon Chase meeting on Sunday, the final Point-to-Point action in the South Midlands Area this season.

Nick Wright’s It Was Me, the only horse to beat winningmost pointer Palypso De Creek between the flags this season, can complete a five-timer in the Ladies’ Open.

Emily Harbour will be hoping Shammy Buskins can prove best of the rest to help her regain the Lady Riders Area Title.

Recent Fontwell Hunter Chase scorer Arbour Hill had My Lil Ledge well held on his last appearance between the flags and can confirm the form in the Men’s Open. Welsh Raiders Midnight Diamond and Hoopy met at Trecoed last month with the former holding the verdict, but the main danger could be King’s Legacy who just failed in his attempt to carry a 12lb penalty at Mollington last month.

Nipper John is a leading contender for the PPORA Club Members Novice Riders race, while Tempered Steel can become the area’s top horse outright should she finish in the first three in the SMAC Club Members Conditions or if Description fails to win the Ladies Open.

The South Midlands Area Point-to-Point Awards will be presented after racing.

The meeting starts at 12.30pm with two Pony Races.

The first Point-to-Point action is scheduled for 2pm with three Maiden races opening the eight-race card. Admission is £10 car and driver, £5 per passenger, £5 pedestrians. Whitfield is two miles north-east of Brackley, off the A43.
