The young striker bagged four goals as Sports completed an early season double over Pewsey Vale, winning 5-0 in Saturday’s Division One West clash.

Coombes completed his hat-trick in the first 15 minutes and Henry Rose also got on the scoresheet for the leaders.

Coombes opened the scoring from the first corner of the match, first to react to a ball headed back across goal he volleyed home. Coombes exchanged passes with Callum Convey on the edge of the box before volleying into the bottom corner of the net.

Sports were out of sight a minute later when Coombes timed his run well to race on to a through pass before showing great composure to slot past the keeper.

Opportunities were more even in the second half but defences remained largely on top before Sports scored again midway through the half when Rose scored the goal of the game. Picking the ball up on the left hand touchline, Rose cut in and from the edge of the box curled a shot with his right foot into the top corner of the net.

Coombes rounded off the scoring with ten minutes left when he ran on to a clearance from keeper Adam Rimmer and outpaced three defenders before smashing the ball into the corner of the net.
