Croco Bay ran into a place on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival for Edgcote trainer Ben Case.

The eight-year-old, owned by Lady Jane Grosvenor, came third in the Grade 3 AP McCoy Grand Annual Handicap Chase for the Wardington Gate Farm handler.

Next Sensation won the race, named in honour of jump racing’s retiring champion jockey, but Kielan Woods steered Croco Bay to an excellent third place, edging out joint favourite Ned Buntline up the hill to finish behind the winner and Eastlake.

On the same card, Claire Hart had predicted a top ten finish for Alskamatic in the St James’s Place Foxhunter Chase and he duly obliged to come ninth.

The Adlestrop trainer/rider had a good ride around the Gold Cup course in her first ever Foxhunter’s race in which the nine-year-old travelled well throughout the feature event for amateur riders.
