The Chipping Norton trainer said: “Our Kaempfer will be the more fancied of our runners and I’m really looking forward to seeing him run. He hasn’t been out since November when he got brought down.

“The whole plan has been to wait for this race, his form all of last season, and even this, is rock solid. His mark of 139 looks a good weight for this race.

“He’s run against good horses. Our Kaempfer has got a decent each-way chance but you always need a bit of luck.”

Kilfinichen Bay was raised a massive 60lbs by the handicapper this season following a run of eight wins from ten starts.

The Hull Farm handler added: “Kilfinichen Bay has been an absolute legend of a horse for us, winning eight out of ten races, but has gone up 60lb over two seasons.

“Off a 140 mark, he ran a really good race off top weight in a Pertemps qualifier at Cheltenham, which is always difficult in a competitive handicap.

“I don’t know how much more improvement there is in him having gone up so much. He can win off that mark but to win at Cheltenham off a 140 mark, he might find one or two better.

“But he will always run with his heart on his sleeve and I think he will run a blinder, I can see him being in the first six.”
