They beat Reading by four wickets in Saturday’s division one fixture at Ledwell Road where Joe Thomas starred with the ball and Joe White with the bat.

Captain Andy Harris inserted Reading and they made a steady start with opener Tom Fray 43 helping them to 77-4 before he departed, the first of Thomas’s three victims. Ian Slatcher 54 picked up from where Fray left off and guided the visitors to 169-8.

Reading were all out for 194 in the final over with Thomas taking 3-15 and Lawerence Brock picking up 3-41.

In reply, openers Jordan Garret 22 and White gave Tew a solid start as they put on 57 runs for the first wicket. Matt Clarke 21 and White took the score along to 123-2 before Tew lost a couple of quick wickets to put the outcome back in the balance.

But Lloyd Brock and Ashley Hubbert 26 put Tew back on track as they took the score along to 183-6 and in sight of victory. That left Brock 34no and Harris to see Tew home in the 40th over.
