Rosie Weston won a gold medal in the under 20’s European Sprint Distance Age Group Championships in Lisbon, Portugal at the weekend.

That ensured Weston became the European Under-20 Age Group Champion for 2016. She completed the 750 open water swim, 20km bike and 5km in one hour and 12 minutes.

The 17-year-old is coached by Brian Butler from Natural Ability and is a member of Team Cherwell Triathlon club.

Team-mate Kim Shaw continued to add to her distinguished triathlon career with a silver medal in the European Age Group championships over the standard distance in Lison, finishing in 2:38.01.

There was Team Cherwell representation at one of the hardest Ironman races on the circuit in Lanzarote, where as well as coping with swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km and then running a marathon, athletes have to contend with heat, wind and significant climbing.

Despite that, all three competitors completed the race with Dawn Osbourne finishing in 16:40.39, Ila Pearson in 15:07.27 and Ian Thompson recording 15:03.43.
