Nigel Eley and Ted Eley are through to the last four of the Oxon Bowls Association pairs competition.
The Adderbury pair held off a late rally by West Witney’s Kevin Alder and Paul Skidmore to win Monday’s quarter-final tie 25-16 at Kidlington BC.
Alder and Skidmore started with a couple of singles but then found themselves 10-2 down four ends later and 17-3 down after ten ends.
With seven ends to play, the Adderbury duo looked comfortable before dropping eight shots over the next three ends to see their lead cut to two shots.
The Witney boys dropped a six on the next end which brought their rally to a sudden stop. And, after dropping a single on the next end, they called it a day to put the Adderbury pair through.
But Banbury Borough’s Darren Sharpe and AJ Docherty bowed out against Carterton’s Tim Jupp and Stuart Richens.
The Borough pair took nine of the opening 14 ends and led 15-7 but Jupp and Richens produced a four on the 15th end.
With three ends to go they still trailed 17-12 but a brace of twos brought them to within one shot of the Borough pair. Jupp and Richens collected another two on the final end to snatch a 18-17 victory.
