Central consolidate second spot after beating leaders

Banbury Central B consolidated second place in division four of the Oxford & District Bowls League with an 81-73 win against leaders Hanborough.

Jim Pickering with Ed Creed, Ray Puddle and Tony Lawford won 23-17 while Malcolm Leather with Bob Wilkins, Maurice Tombes and John Hart won 21-17.

Ron Cox with Ron Havard, Graham Tilbury and Eric Knowles won 19-14 but Tom McKenna with Keith Williams, Terry Ulph and Chris Williams lost 18-25.

Bloxham lost 68-93 against Witney Town in division three.

John Stephens’ rink of Rod Ostler, Bob Ottway and Des Jones were the only winners with a 24-16 result.

Ron Higgins with Norman Hambidge, John Nolan and John Elstob had a tight game but lost 13-19 while Tony Gardner’s rink of Alan Miles, Ray Sopp and Brian Smith lost 18-25.

Dave Morse’s rink of Alan Round Chris Hall and Doug Woodward suffered a heavy defeat of 13-33.

Banbury Chestnuts lost 81-75 against City & County B.

Lee Wilkinson with Martyn Cooper, Pat Noonan and Colin Taylor won 28-22 and Keith Buckle with John Tobin, Norman Stringer and Jim Denbow won 18-17.

But Brian Ray with Richard Cox, John Duncan and Eric Hilton lost 15-23 and Derek Ives with Dave Tilley, Brian Stonebridge and Alan Wase lost 14-19.
