Banbury Central A are through to the Oxford & District Bowls League Cup final after they beat Thame 86-56 in the semi-final at South Oxford BC.

After nine ends there was just one shot between the two sides before Central started to pull away.

By 18 ends Central were in control with Nigel Galletly, Ian Whelpton and Keith McNeil all finishing strongly with ten shot plus margins.

Central will meet Headington A in the final after they beat Headington B in the other semi-final.

Banbury Central Ladies have reached Leamington in the final qualifying stages of Bowls England’s Top Club competition.

They beat previous winners Chesham. Each team won twice but Central edged it on a combined shot difference of 11.

Carole Galletly won her singles 21-20 while Pam Shepherd and Caroline Campion won the pairs 26-9.

Mo Cox, Sue Waring and Anne Norton lost the triples 16-22 while Mary Tee’s four of Melody Sykes, June Bone and Annie Gilkes lost 18-19.

Annie Gilkes’ triple of June Bone and Carole Galletly won the Banbury Town Triples, beating Banbury Central clubmates Sue Waring, Mo Cox and Mary Tee 15-10.

Caroline Campion won the Stella Amos Town Singles 21-17 against Margaret Morris from Banbury Borough.
