Abby Anson warmed up for the English Schools Athletics Championships by winning at Sunday’s Midland Athletics League meeting.
The penultimate meeting took place at Dudley with Banbury Harriers under-17, under-20 and senior athletes in action.
In the under-17 category, Rebecca Scott and Sophia Daenen produced leaps of 4.85m and 4.31m respectively as they got the day under way in the long jump.
Scott and Daenen were also in action in the 200m with times of 27.3 seconds and 30.0 seconds.
Anson’s final race before heading off to English Schools Championships saw her win the 100m in a time of 12.6 seconds.
Paige Cooper produced a great throw in the shot putt with a personal best of 7.67m.
Alfie Rowett got the seniors off to a flying start in the sprints with a time of 10.9 seconds in the 100m and 21.9 seconds in the 200m.
Ollie Sprio followed with times of 11.5 seconds and 23.0 seconds in the same events.
The men’s non-scoring 100m produced a great race with Sam Hook, Dan Houchen, Tom Wain and Felix Noble all in contention. They finished in that order, with all four dipping under 11.8 seconds and Hook leading the way in 11.4 seconds.
Hook was also in action in the long jump with a distance of 6.09m and in shot putt he produced a throw of 9.94m.
Houchen, Alfie Rowett, Hook and Sprio won the men’s 4x100m relay with a good time of 44.5 seconds.
Bert Rowett ran 1.59.3 in the 800m, which was a pb, and also recorded 53.2 in the 400m.
