Kerr will not underestimate Windsor

Banbury Bulls entertain Windsor in Saturday’s South West One East fixture at Bodicote Park, looking to extend their winning run to five games.

Bulls returned from Swindon with another crucial victory and are now just four points off fourth-placed Royal Wootton Bassett.

But Windsor belied their lowly position by beating Witney last weekend. And the following week, Bulls entertain Chippenham who also enjoyed a good win against Wootton Bassett on Saturday.

Kerr said: “There are no easy games in this division. Windsor and Chippenham both had good wins against opposition higher up the table so we will not be taking either of them lightly.

“But our decision making is much better now. As head coach, my job is to make sure all the players understand why they are making those decisions as individuals.

“We haven’t changed a lot, earlier in the season we got punished by teams for making the wrong decisions. The players have learned that and now they are more patient, especially with ball in hand.

“We’ve not had to make fundamental changes, it’s the same squad of players which we were using earlier in the season. But the difference is now we are getting the job done.”

Looking back on Saturday’s success at Swindon, Kerr added: “It was an ugly win at Swindon but we’ll take that. We scored a couple of good tries but it was the penalties which proved crucial for us.

“We didn’t play our normal expansive game but, ultimately, the objective is to get the victory and the points.”

Bulls’ only doubt for Saturday’s game against Windsor is fly-half Alex Stephenson who had a scan on Monday following a bicep muscle injury which he sustained at Swindon.
