Harris glad to see the back of Coetzee as he looks for more points

Great & Little Tew captain Andy Harris will be glad to see the back of Finchampstead or, more specifically, Jandre Coetzee.

Harris saw the South African left-arm seamer take seven wickets against his side earlier in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League campaign and then watched Coetzee repeat the feat on Saturday.

Tew lost by nine wickets against division one leaders Finchampstead in Saturday’s fixture at Ledwell Road where Coetzee was virtually unplayable.

Tew travel to Banbury on Saturday and Harris said: “I don’t know how many more points we need to be safe. But there are only 80 available, as it is only 20 points for a win now, so that it’s in our favour.

“We bounced back from a heavy defeat when we played Banbury last time at our place. So I will be looking for a similar response on Saturday.”

Looking back on Saturday’s defeat, Harris added: “Jandre Coetzee has taken us 14 wickets against us this year but he’s also made a mess of a lot of other teams.

“He is the reason why Finchampstead are top, he’s a very good bowler. But Matt Carter also opens for Berkshire so they’ve got a very strong opening attack.

“Dain Moreton wasn’t too happy about his decision but we can’t complain about the other nine dismissals!”
