Wilkin says he will not give up on bid to make play-offs
Wilkin knows it’s going to be a tough ask and feels his side has to win all but one of their remaining games to do it, starting with Saturday’s clash with AFC Telford United at St James Park.
Wilkin said: “We’ve still got an outside chance of making the play-offs and we’ll keep going until it’s mathematically impossible for us to make them. But it means that we need to win seven of our remaining eight games and even then that might not be enough.”

Following narrow defeats to Salford City and Darlington 1883, Saints got back to winning ways in Tuesday’s clash with struggling Worcester City, winning 3-1.
Luke Graham and Glenn Walker missed Tuesday’s game through injury while James Armson served a one-match suspension, so Wilkin was happy to pick up three points.
He said: “It was good to get back to winning ways on Tuesday. It wasn’t a classic but we got the job done, especially as we were missing some key players. It will be good to get them back for this important stage of the season.
“We had a couple of setbacks leading up to the game with two narrow defeats against Salford City and Darlington 1883. We deserved something from the Salford game but we didn’t perform at Darlington, which was disappointing.
“We didn’t create enough chances but Darlington got the decisive goal. The pitch wasn’t great but that’s no excuse for a poor performance.”
