Wilkin knows Saints must be more ruthless in both boxes
Brackley Town boss Kevin Wilkin will be looking for his side to be more ruthless at Gloucester City on Tuesday.
Saints have now failed to win in seven Vanarama National League North outings following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against leaders AFC Fylde.
Clinical finishing was the difference between the teams in a close game at St James Park with the league’s top scorer Danny Rowe bagging a brace for the Coasters who won for the first time in three attempts on the road. Steve Williams also scored for the visitors while recent addition James Clifton replied on his return to Saints James Park.
Wilkin said: “We are having a difficult time with the run of results but from a performance point of view I cannot ask more of my players.
“You might be wary after making so many changes but we did not lack cohesion. Attitude and application were very good but to win you have to be ruthless in both boxes.
“We haven’t gone ahead often enough in recent games and again we went behind. Sometimes you have to be nasty to get in front but we had good discipline and showed good energy out there.”
Saints travel to Gloucester City on Tuesday evening before making the long trip to York City in the quarter-finals of the Buildbase FA Trophy next Saturday.
