Brackley Town are set to return to action with a tough trip to Boston United at the weekend.

The Saints were due to come out of isolation earlier this week after their Vanarama National League North matches against Bradford (Park Avenue) and AFC Fylde were postponed after a positive Covid-19 test in the squad.

And it’s a tough assignment for Kevin Wilkin’s team on Saturday as they take on a Boston side who, like Brackley, sit in the play-off places.

But the Saints are looking to maintain an unbeaten run that stands at eight league matches, a run that earned Wilkin the manager of the month award for December.

And it seems the break might not have been all bad news for Brackley with the likes of Gaz Dean, Lee Ndlovu and Glenn Walker having more time to get over injuries.

“Tuesday was the final day of isolation so we will be testing everyone and provided it all comes back with no negatives then we will be training to prepare for Saturday,” Wilkin said.

“The club has done really well with its Covid policy and hopefully we will be back and getting ready for the weekend.

“It’s a very tricky game to go straight back into.

“They’re a good team Boston and they are having a strong season as you’d expect. They are a club who are always difficult to compete against at this level.

“But prior to us having to isolate, we were in terrific form and the test now is to see if we can pick up where we left off.

“If there is a bit of a silver lining to those games being off it’s that those crucial players we have had injured could be back and available for us.

“If that is the case then this period of rest hasn’t been all bad.

“This is something that we and every other club has to deal with and we have to get on with it as best as we can.”
