Although it was not a great performance, manager Phil Lines still felt his side did enough to take all three UHLSport Hellenic League points in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

But Sports finished the game with only ten men after substitute Ryan Markham got a straight red card for retaliation near the end.

Sports could not have got off to a better start when Andrew Stidder was put clean through in the second minute and was clattered in the box. Stidder stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the ensuing spot-kick.

Craig Robinson returned to the starting line-up and he and Stidder had chances to extend their lead and take a firm grip on the game.

Stidder saw the in-form keeper tip his effort around the post while Robinson dragged a shot wide after some good build-up play.

But Sports gifted Tytherington their 11th minute equaliser. Keeper Jack Goode and Terry Fitton had the chance to clear but failed to do so and Callum Francis took full advantage to score.

Sports controlled the second half with Stidder going up front while Markham and Durrel Livous also came on in the search for the winner. Sports had several chances to pinch a goal but could not find the breakthrough.

Robinson hit the bar after chipping the keeper and scraped the inside of the post with another effort after being played through by Sam Grant.

Sports had one late chance when Stidder cut the ball back for Josh Northam but his shot sailed over the bar before Markham was sent off.

Sports remain third behind leaders Fairford Town and Hook Norton.
