Saints held the high-fliers to a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s Vanarama National League North clash.

Matty Hughes shot wide for Fylde early on while Steve Diggin had the ball in the net but the effort was ruled out for offside and Eddie Odiamdo was denied by Ben Hinchliffe. Fylde had a couple more chances, Rowe headed wide and Sam Finley was thwarted by Sam Hornby.

But Rowe broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when he turned on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner.

Finley went close to doubling Fylde’s advantage but Saints equalised four minutes before the break when Richard Batchelor’s corner was turned in at the near post by Diggin.

After the restart Rowe tested Hornby from 25 yards before Saints deservedly took the lead in the 55th minute when Glen Walker tapped home from close range. But their lead lasted barely a minute as Charles curled home from the edge of the area.

Both sides had late opportunities, Hinchliffe palmed away Walker’s free-kick while Rowe put Josh Wilson’s cross the wrong side of the upright in the closing stages.
