Saints must take all three points to pull clear

Brackley Town boss Kevin Wilkin knows his side really have to pick up all three points from tonight's (Tuesday) clash with AFC Telford.

Saints take on Telford at St James Park still one place outside the Vanarama National League North relegation zone on goal difference from Lowestoft Town who have a game in hand. But Telford are only two points clear of Saints so a win for Wilkin’s boys would be crucial.

Saints have lost just once in eight outings but have not picked up enough wins to pull clear. Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chorley was another case of two dropped points.

Wilkin said: “We’ll take the positives out of the game, it’s one more point and the players have had a real go but that’s been the story of our season. We’ve conceded free-kicks and corners at crucial moments and that’s what happened against Chorley.

“Clean sheets are so important especially when you are not scoring goals, which we haven’t been doing lately.

“We’re not too far off it but we’re not quite getting there at the moment. One defeat in eight is a good run but three points would have taken us clear of the bottom so Tuesday’s game becomes a really important one now.”
